Whether for the purpose of attack or candid transportation, the ability to actuate something oer long distance has been critical to the growth and growing of civilization. During the Middle Ages, before the cannons were invented, the most vulgar and popular mood to shoot a projectile was the trebuchet. However, all over the course of the years trebuchets have lost their popularity. We decided to institute it back! The over all told goal for this project is to build a trebuchet in order to rescue our very stimulate Gryphy, the school mascot. Strengths - build the trebuchet call for some precise calculations and drawings. We formulated a rough sketch of what we wishinged to accomplish. It was skeletal with keeping in mind all the supports, pivot points, angles, and joi nts required for a permanent trebuchet. We cut all our pieces prior to create so we could manikin our trebuchet. This allowed us to make certain that all of our proposed cuts, angles, and joints would fit together. By doing this, we were able to alter the dimensions of certain separate of the trebuchet that were cause problems. For example, at first we had decided to have a much wider base in order to block the trebuchet from tipping over onto its side due to the forces exerted by the throwing arm. However, we later on realized that the axle forthcoming to us was too fragile. We knew it wasnt dull enough to care the weight especially if it was spread over that long distance. We brief our base by almost a half so that the axle was much shorter. This way the exerted pressure wasnt entirely on the axle but was also on the steep supports. Also, the tension wouldnt be as much. As I look at our trebuchet I can adduce that this is one of its strengths as this prevents any dama ges from occurring.
